What are the options at Head Start?

Double Session Program - Intended for 3 and 4 year olds, the Double Session Program consists of four half-day sessions a week. Morning or afternoon classes meet Monday through Thursday during the regular school year. Classrooms are located at the Head Start Center, Durgan, and Copper Gate Apartment Complex.

Full Day Program - This program, which runs year round, is available from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for children who are 3 or 4 years old before August 1. Parents of children enrolled in this program must be working or in school full time, or a combination of both. Operating Monday through Friday, currently classrooms are at the Head Start Center and at Copper Gate Apartments.

Early Head Start - Open to children from ages 6 weeks to two years, Early Head Start is for children of parents who are working or in school full time, or a combination of both. Working in partnership with Tippecanoe County Child Care, childcare and the "extras" of Early Head Start are provided at Tippecanoe County Child Care's Dennis Burton, and Sunrise Care facilities.

The Pregnant Women's Program is the part of Early Head Start that supports ten expectant parents as they learn about what's happening during pregnancy, labor, delivery, and the immediate weeks after birth. Characterized by home visits, lots of information, and a support group, the staff is able to be with the parents during delivery, if requested.

Head Start/Early Head Start services are free for families with limited incomes. A full range of health, educational, and developmental services are available to children under the age of five, including those with disabilities or special needs.
