Family-Centered Services
The goal of Bauer Family Centered Services is to ensure that parents and their children are provided with various concrete and therapeutic interventions that will have a positive impact of their future. We want families to feel empowered and confident in themselves long after they have completed our program. Bauer Family Centered Services is a strength based program with the objective to add to each person’s potential and help develop long lasting assets. Parents are encouraged to become involved in all aspects of the Family Centered Services. This includes:
- Case Management
- Supervised Visitation
- Educational Life Skill Groups
Case Management
Home Based Family Specialists provide tailored services to each family. Services can include assistance with employment, educational, financial, housing, interpersonal and medical needs.
Supervised Visitation
Home Based Family Specialists provide one on one coaching, modeling and encouragement to parents during their supervised visits. The goal of supervision is decrease frequency of supervised visits as parents and children demonstrate an improved level of parental supervision, positive family communication and interaction. For families without approved in-home visitation, Bauer utilizes the Family Support Center. This space is a fully functioning home to facilitate visitation in a nurturing and safe environment.
Family Educational Life Skills Group
Groups are offered at no cost to families enrolled in our Family Centered Services. While they are not a mandatory part of our program, they are highly encouraged. Participants can expect a relaxed and comfortable setting where information is shared by all. Groups are offered at various times of the day and throughout the week. We offer specific groups to help both the parents and children on various topics. Including:
- Cooking Group
- Play Group
- Special Interest Groups
Core Components
All Family Centered Services families are referred by Department of Child Services or Juvenile Probation to address issues relating to child safety. Home Based Family Specialists are trained to provide interventions relating to parenting, physical/sexual abuse, domestic violence, homelessness, substance abuse, child neglect, mental health and lack of adequate resources. Staff use client-centered, strength-based and goal-focused approaches. All clients receive an assessment and treatment plan within 30 days of referral as well as ongoing monthly reports.
